Flamemaster CS-247 Class B2 Aircraft Windshield Sealant (AMS3333 Type II)
The Flamemaster CS-247 Class B2 is a highly specialized, two-part, polysulfide sealant formulated specifically for sealing transparent plastic windows and windshields in aerospace applications. This formulation is non-crazing and non-fogging, meeting the stringent requirements of AMS3333 Type II, which is essential for preserving the optical clarity and structural integrity of sensitive acrylic and polycarbonate materials. The Class B consistency is a thixotropic, non-sag paste suitable for creating robust fillets and beads. The B2 designation indicates a 2-hour application life, providing MRO technicians with ample time for detailed, large-area applications, cleanup, and complex joint sealing before the material begins to cure.
Typical Aviation Applications:
The CS-247 Class B2 is the preferred sealant for critical transparency sealing tasks requiring a longer working time:
-
Large Window Filleting: Used to create the primary exterior fillet seal around large passenger windows, complex cockpit windshields, and canopies (acrylic or polycarbonate).
-
Stress Absorption: Forms a durable, flexible seal between the transparency and the frame, absorbing structural stress, thermal expansion, and vibration without inducing crazing or micro-cracking.
-
Complex Assembly: The 2-hour work life is ideal for assemblies that require meticulous tooling, inspection, or simultaneous application across multiple joints by a team.
