Mousemilk Penetrating Oil Colorless to Light Amber
Mousemilk Penetrating Oil (often described as colorless to light amber) is a highly refined, low-viscosity, high-performance penetrating lubricant specifically formulated to address seized, corroded, or frozen metal parts. Its exceptional capillary action allows it to wick into incredibly tight tolerances and microscopic crevices, breaking down rust, corrosion, carbon, and other stubborn contaminants that bind components together. Unlike many other penetrating oils, Mousemilk is designed to leave behind a clean, light, and non-gumming lubricating film after its volatile components evaporate, ensuring that the freed parts remain lubricated and protected without attracting dirt. Its clear to light amber color indicates its purity and minimal residue.
Key Characteristics:
- Exceptional Penetration: Possesses extremely low surface tension and viscosity, enabling it to penetrate rust, carbon, corrosion, and seized joints in minute clearances (e.g., 1-2 microns).
- Corrosion Breakdown: Actively dissolves and breaks down rust and other corrosion products that cause binding.
- Lubricating Film: Leaves a clean, light, non-gumming lubricating film after the volatile carriers evaporate, preventing re-seizing and providing ongoing protection.
- Non-Corrosive: Formulated not to harm ferrous or non-ferrous metals, which is crucial for sensitive aircraft alloys.
- Non-Flammable (when cured): While the initial product contains volatile components, the residual film is stable.
- Wide Temperature Range: Effective in various operating temperatures, though its primary function is penetration at ambient conditions.
- Residue-Free (Functional): Designed to leave a minimal, non-sticky residue that aids lubrication without attracting dust or dirt.
- Colorless to Light Amber: A clear appearance that minimizes staining and indicates its refined nature.
Application in Aviation:
- Freeing Seized Fasteners: Indispensable for loosening rusted, corroded, or carbon-bound nuts, bolts, screws, and rivets on aircraft structures, engines, and accessories without causing damage.
- Restoring Movement to Controls: Used on control cable ends, pulleys, bell cranks, hinges, and linkages that have become stiff or frozen due to corrosion or contamination.
- Aircraft Engine Components: Applied to cylinder studs, exhaust manifold bolts, and other engine components where heat and carbon buildup can cause seizing.
- Landing Gear Components: Used to free stuck pins, bushings, and pivot points within the landing gear assemblies.
- Avionics and Instruments: Applied carefully to very small, delicate mechanisms in instruments or avionics where corrosion might affect movement or electrical contact (always check manufacturer's guidelines for electronics).
- Pre-Disassembly Aid: Often applied as a pre-treatment before attempting to disassemble old or corroded aircraft parts, significantly reducing the risk of breakage.
- General Maintenance: Any application where a precise, deep-penetrating lubricant is needed to restore movement or aid in disassembly of tightly fitted or corroded metal parts.
