Flamemaster CS3206 B1-6 Black Quick Repair Fuel Resistant Sealant
CS 3206 Class B is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured polysulfide fuel tank sealant specifically engineered for rapid repair and sealing applications in aircraft. It is designed to provide excellent adhesion and high fuel resistance with a fast cure time, making it ideal for situations where quick turnaround is essential. This Class B variant indicates a trowelable consistency that allows for easy application by spatula or extrusion gun, perfect for sealing seams, fasteners, and small access panels. Upon curing at room temperature, it forms a tough, flexible, and resilient rubber that maintains its integrity under exposure to jet fuels, aviation oils, and varying temperatures.
Key Features for Aviation:
- Two-Part System: Consists of a base compound and an accelerator, mixed just prior to application.
- Polysulfide Chemistry: Provides excellent resistance to a wide range of aviation fuels, hydraulic fluids, and lubricants.
- Manganese Dioxide Cure: A common curing agent for polysulfide sealants, contributing to robust properties.
- Class B Consistency: Trowelable, allowing for easy application with spatulas, spreaders, or extrusion guns for filleting and sealing.
- Quick Repair/Fast Cure: Specifically formulated for accelerated curing, significantly reducing downtime for repairs.
- Excellent Adhesion: Forms strong, durable bonds to common aircraft substrates, including aluminum, titanium, steel, and many composites.
- Fuel and Fluid Resistance: Highly resistant to aviation jet fuels (e.g., Jet A, Jet B, JP-4, JP-5, JP-8), hydraulic fluids (e.g., Skydrol), and engine oils.
- Wide Service Temperature Range: Maintains flexibility and sealing properties across the typical operating temperatures of aircraft, from very cold to high heat.
Flexibility and Resilience: Cures to a flexible rubber that can withstand movement, vibration, and thermal cycling without cracking or delamination.
Typical Aviation Applications:
- Fuel Tank Repairs: Used for rapidly sealing leaks in integral fuel tanks, access panels, and fuel cell cavities, often addressing minor damages or temporary fixes.
- Fastener Sealing: Applied around rivets, bolts, and other fasteners within fuel-wetted areas to prevent leaks.
- Sealing Small Access Panels: Ideal for sealing small panels or covers on fuel tanks or other fluid compartments that require quick resealing after maintenance.
- Filleting and Void Filling: Used for creating smooth fillets around joints and filling small voids in fuel-wetted areas to improve flow and prevent fluid accumulation.
- Component Assembly: For sealing components that come into contact with fuel or other aviation fluids during assembly.
- Emergency Repairs: Its quick-cure nature makes it suitable for urgent leak repairs to get an aircraft back into service faster.
