Flamemaster CS-3808 Class B1/2 Silicone Sealant (BMS-8-68)
The Flamemaster CS-3808 Class B is the thixotropic, non-flow variant of the two-part RTV silicone compound, specifically engineered for applications requiring structural filling, gasketing, and fillet formation in extreme thermal environments. Unlike the brushable Class A, the Class B consistency allows for precision application on vertical and overhead surfaces without slumping or flowing.
Key Features for Aviation:
- CS-3808 Class B cures at room temperature to form a durable, flexible silicone elastomer with unparalleled resistance to heat and electrical stress. Its high viscosity is tailored for mechanical application via a pressure gun or spatula.
Typical Aviation Applications:
-
Formed-in-Place Gasketing: Used extensively to create resilient, reusable gaskets for engine access panels, inspection covers, and high-heat assemblies.
-
Structural Filleting: Applied to create robust fillet seals in joints and seams within engine nacelles, thrust reversers, and firewall areas where high heat is present.
-
Void and Gap Filling: Ideal for filling large structural voids or gaps that demand a material with high volume resistivity and thermal stability.
-
Missile/Rocketry: Used as an insulating coating and thermal barrier where the non-sag property ensures precise placement in complex assemblies.
