Flamemaster CS-415 Class B1-2 Aerodynamic Smoothing Compound (MIL-S-38228)
The Flamemaster CS-415 Class B1-2 is a two-part, synthetic non-metallic compound specifically engineered for critical aerodynamic smoothing and fairing applications on high-performance aircraft. This product is a designated Aerodynamic Smoothing Compound, providing a lightweight, high-strength filler essential for optimizing airflow, minimizing drag, and preparing surfaces for top-coat application. It is fully qualified to the stringent MIL-S-38228 military specification for this purpose. The Class B consistency is a thixotropic, non-sag paste that allows technicians to apply thick layers without slumping, ideal for filling deep gaps, voids, and contouring complex surfaces.
Typical Aviation Applications:
The CS-415 Class B1-2 is indispensable in both manufacturing and MRO for achieving optimal aerodynamic performance:
-
Structural Gap Filling: Filling panel overlaps, riveted joints, and voids in structural assemblies to ensure a monolithic, paintable surface.
-
Fillet Contouring: Creating smooth, continuous transition fillets around structural components to minimize turbulence and drag.
-
Radar/Antenna: Used in non-metallic areas, or where specified, to provide a structurally sound, sandable surface prior to radome coating.
