Flamemaster CS-7707 Nylon Epoxy Coating DPM 2389
Flamemaster CS 7707 NYLON EPOXY COATING is a two-part, high-performance protective coating specifically formulated for demanding aerospace applications. It combines the excellent chemical resistance and durability of epoxy resins with the tough, flexible, and abrasion-resistant properties of nylon. This unique blend results in a coating that offers superior resistance to aviation fuels, hydraulic fluids, lubricants, and Skydrol, while providing outstanding protection against abrasion, impact, and corrosion. It is designed to cure into a hard yet flexible film that can withstand the harsh operational environments of aircraft, including significant temperature variations and mechanical stress.
Key Characteristics:
- Two-Part System: Consists of a base resin and a hardener that are mixed prior to application, initiating the chemical curing process.
- Epoxy-Nylon Blend: Combines the robust chemical resistance and adhesion of epoxy with the flexibility, abrasion resistance, and toughness of nylon.
- Superior Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to a wide range of aggressive aviation fluids including jet fuels (JP-4, JP-5, JP-8, Jet A/B), hydraulic fluids (Skydrol), lubricants, and de-icing fluids.
- High Abrasion and Impact Resistance: Forms a very durable film that withstands rubbing, scraping, and impact, protecting the underlying substrate.
- Excellent Corrosion Protection: Provides a strong barrier against moisture, salt spray, and other corrosive elements, extending the life of components.
- Good Adhesion: Adheres exceptionally well to various aircraft substrates, including properly prepared metals (aluminum, steel) and composites.
Wide Operating Temperature Range: Maintains its protective properties across a significant temperature spectrum encountered in aviation.
- Non-Porous Film: Creates a dense, continuous barrier that prevents fluid penetration.
- Flexible yet Hard: Cures to a tough film that resists cracking from minor substrate movement or flexing.
- Variety of Colors: May be available in different colors for identification or aesthetic purposes.
Application in Aviation:
- Fuel Tank Interiors and Components: Used as an internal coating for fuel tanks (integral and bladder type) and fuel system components to prevent corrosion and degradation from fuel exposure. Its high fuel resistance is crucial here.
- Hydraulic System Components: Applied to hydraulic lines, reservoirs, and other parts exposed to hydraulic fluids like Skydrol, providing a protective barrier.
Landing Gear Components: Protects various landing gear parts from wear, impact, and fluid exposure.
- Aircraft Wheel Wells: Used to coat surfaces within wheel wells, which are exposed to significant impact from debris, fluids, and environmental elements.
- Bilge Areas and Other Fluid Containment Zones: Provides a protective lining in areas where spills or accumulation of fluids might occur.
- Cargo Compartments: Can be used to coat cargo bay floors and walls for enhanced durability against abrasion and spills.
- Corrosion-Prone Structural Areas: Applied to internal structural members susceptible to corrosion from moisture or environmental factors.
- Component Overhaul and Repair: Used during MRO activities to re-coat and protect components, extending their service life.
