FUELSTAT ONE FHR8-3 / Aviation Jet Fuel Test Kit ASTM D80707
FUELSTAT® One test kits represent a significant advancement in the on-site detection of microbial contamination in aviation fuel. Utilizing lateral flow immunoassay technology, similar to a rapid medical test, these kits are designed to identify markers of bacteria and fungi (including yeasts and molds) that can grow in fuel systems. They provide fully quantitative results quickly, typically within 20-30 minutes, allowing for immediate assessment of contamination levels and informed decision-making. The test is user-friendly and self-contained, requiring no specialized equipment or laboratory conditions, making it ideal for "test at the tank" applications.
Approved by Textron (All Cessna, Beechcraft, Beechjet, Hawker Aircraft) and Pilatus
Key Characteristics:
-
Rapid Results: Delivers quantitative results in 20-30 minutes, a significant improvement over traditional lab-based growth tests that can take days.
-
On-Site Testing: Enables testing directly at the fuel tank or storage facility, eliminating the need for sample transportation and associated delays/costs.
-
Lateral Flow Immunoassay Technology: Detects specific biological markers (e.g., certain carbohydrates/proteins) produced by live microorganisms, providing a reliable indication of active contamination.
-
Quantitative Results: Provides a numerical value for contamination levels, allowing for precise monitoring and action.
-
User-Friendly: Simple to use with minimal training required, often guided by a companion mobile app with step-by-step video instructions.
-
Self-Contained Kit: Each kit includes all necessary components for a single test, typically a test plate, sample extraction bottle, syringe, and instructions.
-
Detects Key Microbes: Identifies the presence of problematic bacteria, fungi (including Hormoconis resinae, "Jet Fuel Fungus"), and yeasts.
-
Resistant to Dirty Conditions: Designed to provide dependable results even in challenging or dirty fuel samples.
- Digital Reporting: The accompanying FUELSTAT® Result app scans the test results, generates a PDF report, and allows for digital storage and sharing of data.
Application in Aviation:
- FUELSTAT® One test kits are crucial for maintaining fuel quality and ensuring operational safety across the aviation sector. They are widely used for:
- Routine Fuel Tank Monitoring: Regularly testing aircraft fuel tanks and ground fuel storage tanks to detect microbial contamination before it leads to serious issues.
- Preventive Maintenance: Identifying early signs of contamination to implement timely corrective actions, such as biocide treatment or fuel filtration.
- Troubleshooting Fuel System Issues: Diagnosing microbial growth as a potential cause of clogged fuel filters, degraded fuel components, fuel tank corrosion, or engine performance problems.
- Fuel Quality Control: Verifying the quality of incoming fuel deliveries and ensuring fuel cleanliness throughout the supply chain.
- Compliance with Industry Guidelines: Assisting operators in adhering to guidelines for microbial contamination management in aviation fuel systems (e.g., IATA Guidance Material, ASTM standards).
By enabling rapid and accurate on-site testing, FUELSTAT® One helps prevent operational downtime, costly repairs, and potential safety hazards caused by microbial contamination in aviation fuel.
