PPG Aerospace PR-1782 Class C - AIMS 04-05-001/ AIMS 04-05-12 Spec Low Density Fuel Tank Sealant
The PPG PR-1782 Class C is a revolutionary two-part, manganese dioxide-cured polysulfide sealant specifically engineered to address the critical needs of fuel efficiency and structural integrity in modern airframes.1 It features a low-density formulation that delivers up to 30\% weight savings compared to traditional sealants, directly optimizing payload and operational costs.
Technical Profile and Key Class C FeatureThe Class C designation is the distinguishing feature, defining a thixotropic, controlled-flow liquid consistency. This makes the PR-1782 Class C the ideal compound for injection, channel filling, or deep gap sealing where a material must flow slightly to fill a complex void but retain enough body to avoid excessive dripping or runout. It is fully qualified to meet stringent Airbus material standards
The PR-1782 Class C is indispensable for specialized sealing tasks in Airbus and other large transport aircraft:
- Injection Sealing: Used to inject into hidden or difficult-to-access seams and channels within the fuel tank structure to create a hidden, pressure-tight seal.
- Fillet and Channel Filling: Ideal for filling non-accessible structural channels where the controlled flow consistency ensures complete void coverage.
- OEM and MRO Compliance: The AIMS qualification validates its use in both production and maintenance protocols across Airbus aircraft families.
