VHT SP102 Flat BlackFlameProof Coating
VHT SP102 Flat Black FlameProof Coating is a specialized silicone-ceramic based paint engineered to renew and protect surfaces exposed to extremely high temperatures. This unique coating is formulated to withstand intermittent temperatures from 1300°F to 2000°F (704°C to 1093°C) after proper curing. It is widely recognized for its exceptional heat resistance and provides a durable, matte finish that gives surfaces a distinctive, flat black appearance. The coating's unique properties are only attained through a specific multi-stage curing process, which can be done either on or off the vehicle, involving heating to progressively higher temperatures.
- High Temperature Resistance: The primary feature of VHT SP102 is its ability to withstand intermittent temperatures of up to 2000°F (1093°C) once properly cured, making it suitable for some of the most extreme heat applications.
- Silicone-Ceramic Base: The coating's unique formula, based on silicone and ceramic components, provides a durable, protective barrier that resists heat-related wear and degradation.
- Flat Black Finish: Produces a matte, non-reflective flat black finish that is both protective and visually appealing, and helps reduce glare.
- Durability: Creates a hard, durable finish that can endure the extreme conditions of high-temperature environments.
- Curing Process: Requires a multi-stage curing process involving heat to achieve its full high-temperature resistance and unique properties.
- Chemical Resistance: Offers resistance to UV and other chemicals, which contributes to its longevity.
- While VHT coatings are well-known in the automotive aftermarket, VHT SP102's extreme temperature resistance has made it a valuable product in the aerospace industry for non-critical, non-structural applications:
- Jet Engines and Components: It is used to protect various components of jet engines, particularly non-moving parts, exhaust components, and casings, from the intense radiant heat generated during operation.
- Exhaust Systems: The coating is applied to exhaust manifolds, pipes, and other exhaust system components to prevent heat-related degradation, rust, and corrosion.
- Re-entry Vehicles and High-Temp Applications: Its ability to withstand temperatures up to 2000°F makes it suitable for some high-temperature paint applications on re-entry vehicles or other spacecraft components.
- Aerospace MRO: Used in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities for refurbishing and protecting engine components and other parts that require a high-temperature resistant finish.
